Acadia Bayside Cottage

If you'd like to be close to Bar Harbor and away from the crowds, this is the place for you. Plenty of privacy and easy access to shopping and sight seeing.

The large sunroom facing the water is spectacular. Communication with the owner was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

This is our second stay at Veena’s cottage. We love it. The waterfront grounds are amazing and the cottage is perfect for our family of 4. The sunroom is especially nice. Veena is wonderful to work with. If you enjoy kayaking, hiking, and biking you can’t beat the proximity to Acadia. Lovely.

Our family of 3 stayed here and had the most wonderful trip. The natural beauty of this property is astounding. We couldn’t get enough of the gorgeous bay views. Whether we were outside on the beach, on the Adirondack chairs, in the airy sunroom, or the light filled main bedroom, we were surrounded by the sights and sounds of beautiful coastal, Maine! The house was spotless and had everything we needed and more. We felt very at home and relaxed. It was fabulous having such a private stay. One of our favorite afternoons included having a seafood dinner overlooking the bay, after spending an afternoon fishing and walking around the beach at low tide. Our family memories made here will be cherished forever. This was truly a trip of a lifetime and we highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a retreat. Never saw or heard a neighbor...only birds, deer, and squirrels...ok the mosquitos come out at night, but the sun room inside is a great "inside" place that feels like you are not missing out on anything going on outside.

From the moment we arrived, we knew our stay was going to be amazing! The house was so clean and inviting, with beautiful views of the lawn, oceanfront, and scenery across the bay. Linens, blankets, toiletries were stocked and we felt like we had absolutely everything we needed (and more!) There was plenty of room for six adults to spend the week, and lots of activities around to keep us busy. The sunroom was our favorite hangout spot, second being the fire pit. It was a truly relaxing getaway in one of the most beautiful properties we’ve stayed in. Cannot wait to get back up to bayside!!!

The house fit our needs perfectly. It’s a short drive to MDI with an amazing view from the backyard. The house was spotless with all the necessities for a great stay. Veena was super responsive in her communication. We will be back next time we are in town!

We planned a post-Covid Vaccination family reunion months ago and decided on staying at Bill and Veena's home based on the description and photos posted on VRBO. Let me tell you, the photos do not do justice to this wonderful property. While the house easily made us feel comfortable, it's the view out back of Union River Bay that is truly stunning! We had numerous campfires around the fire pit toasting s'mores, and saw galaxies of stars, satellites and even a Shooting Star in the night sky. We had a wonderful time and are already planning our return trip. Thank you again Bill and Veena for your hospitality!

Veena's cottage is perfect for a family getaway. The cottage is modern, clean, spacious and inviting. The views of the lake are breathtaking during the day and the star gazing at night couldn't be better. We felt like we were alone in the world when in actuality we were less than 10 minutes to a Super Walmart, 20 minutes to Acadia or Bar Harbour.

Veena also returns emails very quickly. You will love your stay.

The view was breathtaking. The home was charming. The location is exactly what we were looking for. The house was the picture of perfection. Everything we could possible need was located in the home. Completely organized and spotless. The keurig was such a pleasant surprise. It most definitely was our home away from home during our stay. We were very pleased with the whole package and would definitely love to visit again.

This is a lovely recently redone home, situated on the water in a very quiet location outside Mt. Desert Island. It is close enough to give easy access to Acadia, and is minutes from 3 lobster pounds. The owner is incredibly responsive, even during a time of family crisis. We would happily return in the future.

Our family of five had a wonderful time at this lovely waterfront vacation home! The interior of the home and the setting outside its doors are both invigorating and relaxing. It has a bright, airy and fresh cottage feel to it. The decor was simplistic yet elegant. There are lots of windows to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Union River Bay. We enjoyed watching the tide roll in and out and exploring the shoreline to find little creatures amongst the exposed rockweed. We found 5 starfish, one baby eel, and a crab! I wanted to keep them, but we just enjoyed them in their setting until the tide came back. We enjoyed the lovely foggy Maine coastline in the mornings and watching the sun's rays brighten the horizon from our master suite sitting area with coffee and devotional in hand. A storm had formed over the water at dusk and we enjoyed watching the cloud formations against the setting sun while cooking our burgers and hotdogs on the grill... it was lightly drizzling and as we turned around there was a full beautiful rainbow right over the house! We watched seals play in the water near us while looking for food... and we also found they can make some pretty interesting sounds! We saw a blue heron each day out on the rocks as well.

We spent time driving to Acadia Park which was very close and enjoyed the many sights within. We also drove up to Schoodic Point and explored the beautiful red granite rocky coastline. This was our third trip as a family to enjoy and reminisce about these locations from our prior visits. Each visit has brought us new things to see and/or different weather conditions that change the whole setting. In the rain, fog, or sunshine... each has been lovely in its own way. God's creation is simply beautiful at every season, one only needs to take the time to really see it and enjoy all it offers.

Veena was such a delight to work with and speak to! She was accommodating to us with a need we had. The house was well equipped with the basics you need to prepare meals. The house was very clean and refreshing. There were games provided, a small but wonderful selection of literature, and satellite TV for indoor entertainment. Its location provides you with privacy and relaxation and easy access to Acadia Park. I could have sat for hours just enjoying the quiet setting and lovely views from the home while reading... We highly recommend this serene retreat!
